4 People Found Dead in Tenn. After an Infant Was Abandoned in a Stranger’s Front Yard. Now Authorities Are Linking the Cases

A newborn was found abandoned in a stranger’s front yard only hours before four others were found dead nearby, and Tennessee authorities are looking into a terrifying chain of events. Since then, authorities have verified that the two incidents are related.

Around 3:11 p.m. on Tuesday, July 29, the Dyer County Sheriff’s Office was notified that a baby had been left in a car seat outside a random residence on Old Highway 20 close to the Tigrett neighborhood. The sheriff’s office claims that a witness saw the baby and dialed 911 right away.

According to reports, the child was dropped off by a driver in a white mid-size SUV or a dark minivan. The infant was taken care of and unhurt.

Four people were discovered dead at a different crime site in nearby Lake County, about 25 miles away, the Dyer County Sheriff’s Office reported later that day. The FBI, Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, and investigators from both counties are now collaborating on the case.

According to a public update from the sheriff’s office, the identities of the deceased are being kept secret until family notifications are received.

In addition to confirming that the child had been identified, Sheriff Jeff Box listed three people who investigators would like to talk with in relation to the case: Cortney Rose, Matthew Wilson, and Adrianna Williams.

Sheriff Box stated that it is a very depressing day for our town. We are dedicated to finding the truth and making sure that justice is done.

Officials claim that the infant’s abandonment and the fatalities in Lake County are closely related, even though the cause and precise time frame are yet unknown. If there is a relationship between the victim and the child, it has not been revealed.

As investigators seek to put together what transpired, local citizens and animal rights organizations have voiced astonishment and grief.

The Dyer County Sheriff’s Office has asked the public to remember the victims and others impacted and promised to update the public as further information becomes available.

Additional attempts for comment from the media have not received a response from Sheriff Box.
