A tractor-trailer hauling 1,000 pounds of frozen hot dogs crashed on Interstate 83 on Friday, sending four people to the hospital, according to officials.
The Shrewsbury Volunteer Fire Department posted on Facebook that the multi-vehicle collision was initially reported at 9:13 a.m. at mile marker 6.6 close to Glen Rock in York County.
According to the fire department, all north and southbound lanes of I-83 were blocked as emergency personnel removed the debris, hot dogs, and damaged cars. Since then, the highway has reopened.
It is uncertain how the injured individuals are doing.
Todd Wagner, who works in the area, reported hearing a tire burst on Friday before hearing smashing sounds. He walked outside with a few coworkers to check on anyone who might need assistance.
They made their way to an embankment with a view of the roadway. He said that other drivers had already dialed 911. He saw smashed packaging and thousands of frozen hot dogs spilling across the highway.
