Over the weekend, three hikers who had leaped into a California waterfall were discovered dead.

On June 18, the Placer County Sheriff’s Officer was notified that three males had leaped into Rattlesnake Falls, which is close to Soda Springs.

A search and rescue effort was started after the guys failed to come back to the surface.

The three other guys in the trekking party were evacuated from the remote area with a challenging trail on June 19, according to officials, while ground and aircraft searches were carried out.

High winds and powerful currents hindered the search.

On June 22, the sheriff’s office declared that the three men’s remains had been found, but they did not reveal who they were.

In a statement, the sheriff’s office expressed their deepest sympathies to their families, friends, and everyone else impacted by this terrible loss.

In a Facebook post, volunteer diver Juan Heredia stated that he and another diver discovered the men late on Saturday night and promptly notified the sheriff’s office.

We were impatient. I was aware that it might not show up for weeks. Families already needed to end this chapter. The sergeant’s remark, “We’re going to send a team to walk right now to take care of the bodies,” caught me off guard.

The incident’s other details were not made public.

About 26 miles away from Soda Springs sits Lake Tahoe, where a boat capsized during a storm over the weekend, killing eight passengers.

A California Highway Patrol helicopter, the Placer County Sheriff’s Office dive team, and Cal Fire all took part in the search.
