George Pickens sends message to Minkah Fitzpatrick after Steelers trade: ‘Back to beautiful places’

Former Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver George Pickens, who was traded to the Dallas Cowboys last month, still thinks about his former team.

Following the Minkah Fitzpatrick for Jalen Ramsey transaction, Pickens posted a message on Instagram to his old teammate Fitzpatrick, who is now returning to the team that selected him.

I’m very pleased for you, broski! Pickens remarked, “Back to beautiful places in life, lol.”

Pickens’ departure from the Steelers was not pleasant. Pickens denied ever asking for a trade during his first press conference with the Cowboys, but he subsequently admitted on X that he did try to force his way out.

After the inactives were revealed, Pickens was 40 minutes late for the team’s Christmas Day game against the Kansas City Chiefs, according to The Athletic. Pickens was expected to test his hamstring injury prior to the game as he was recuperating from it.

He and Kenny Pickett, the Steelers’ first two picks in the 2022 NFL Draft, were selected in the second round. Neither player ever completed their rookie contracts with the team.

It appeared that Pickens, a third-year wide receiver, would have a second consecutive 1000-yard season, but he missed three games due to a hamstring injury.

He has 59 receptions for 900 yards this season, averaging 15.3 yards per reception. The team’s passing offense has centered on Pickens, who has surpassed 15 yards per grab and 900 yards in each of the previous two seasons.
