Dave Parker of the Baseball Hall of Fame passed away.
He was seventy-four.
Parker’s star team, the Pittsburgh Pirates, posted on X regarding his passing.
The statement said, “We are deeply saddened by the news of Hall of Famer Dave Parker’s passing.” Parker was a great Pirate who played for the Pirates for 11 years, winning two batting titles, an MVP award, and a 1979 World Series Championship.
The Cobra will be inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown next month after becoming a member of the first Pirates Hall of Fame Class of 2022.

Parker was fighting Parkinson’s disease.
In 1973, the designated hitter and right fielder made his Major League debut with the Pirates. In 1991, he made his final appearance for the Toronto Blue Jays. Parker had stints with the California Angels, Oakland Athletics, Milwaukee Brewers, and Cincinnati Reds in between.
He won two World Series, three Gold Gloves, three Silver Sluggers, was named an All-Star seven times, twice won the NL batting title, led the NL in RBIs in 1985, and was named the NL MVP in 1978.
With 2,712 hits, 339 home runs, and 1,493 RBIs, he had a.290 batting average at the end of his career.
Parker is in the Cincinnati Reds Hall of Fame, the Pirates Hall of Fame, and was chosen to the Baseball Hall of Fame this year.
