The performances of Cody Johnson can become blatantly patriotic.
In fact, the country music artist halted one of his shows in April to deliver a patriotic tirade in which he criticized divide and gave kudos to the troops. But for a very different reason, he had to end his show over the weekend during another patriotic moment.
It has been reported that a brawl broke out in the crowd while the 38-year-old singer was playing God Bless America.
Johnson paused his performance to speak to his audience.
He remarked, “I mean, this is not a Travis Scott concert,” alluding to the well-known rapper’s tragic 2021 Astroworld performance, which claimed ten lives. Children are present in the throng. There are many things that don’t have to occur.

Before starting to sing the song, Johnson allegedly spoke to the crowd about unity and avoiding division.
He reportedly remarked, “Well, so much for my speech on not being divided.”
He informed his supporters back in April that he doesn’t support division and that he thinks people should be able to disagree. He paused his performance to ask emergency personnel, first responders, and veterans of the armed forces to raise their hands.
At his Nashville gig, the country music artist informed his audience, “Now, if you don’t have your hand in the air right now, I’m going to ask a simple favor.” I’m going to ask you to get up and raise your voice in support of these ladies and men who keep us free.
He had only just begun.
Division was the word four years ago. He remarked, “I suppose it was five years ago now.” There was only division. There were disagreements over masks. Do you mean me? There were disagreements on vaccinations. There were racial divisions. Religious differences existed. Politics caused splits because voting for one person or another implies that we must despise one another.
“Well, I have some news for you,” he added. All of that was nothing more than lies. Division is not something I believe in. I don’t think hate exists. The colors red, white, and blue are the three things that we can all agree upon and believe in.
Johnson then returned his focus to the service members gathered there.
Do you know why disagreeing is acceptable? “I said.” They attempt to convince us that we should despise one another because you hold different beliefs than I do, I hold different beliefs than you do, or you hold different beliefs than her or him. Do you know why our disagreement is acceptable?
Because some American soldier gave their life before the majority of us were even born, allowing us to differ and still be a single nation under God.
