The son of country music icon Ronnie McDowell, Ronnie McDowell Jr., gave another update on his father on Friday.

The 75-year-old singer was hospitalized in Reading until Monday after suffering a stroke during a performance in Pennsylvania last weekend, but it appears that he is recuperating as well as he can.

On Facebook Friday, McDowell Jr. said, “I want to express our family’s gratitude once more for the ongoing love and support for my dad.”It takes a horrible event to let you realize how many people are cheering you on!

McDowell Jr. then discussed his father’s artistic accomplishments, pointing out that he had over 30 country successes in the top 40 Billboard charts.

However, I believe that you, the fans, have been the real testament to Dad’s success over the years! He penned it. I mean it when I say that Dad’s fans are the best in the business and have a love unlike any other!

It has meant the world to us all to see the outpouring of appreciation for my dad’s contributions to the music industry. Before listing every newspaper that has reported on McDowell’s medical issue, McDowell Jr. added.

“It has been a heartwarming and eye-opening experience that has filled me with pride,” he wrote. It serves as a reminder that his music has endured and has the capacity to inspire and bring people together.

We’ll keep everyone informed about the operation date and let them know how he’s doing,” he added. Dad is a hero and is recovering, but we want him to pace himself till surgery, which is really tough for my dad, as most of you are aware, haha. Continue to pray! You are all incredible, and we adore you!

Last Saturday, McDowell started slurring his words after just four songs at the Summer Solstice Music Festival in Oley, Pennsylvania. He was swiftly removed from the stage and taken to a hospital, where he stayed until Monday, when he was allowed to leave.

When it happened, McDowell Jr. was with his father.

He posted on Facebook that he did had a mini-stroke while performing here in Pennsylvania. With his singing in my in-ear monitor, I could hear him slurring his words and losing the words to songs he had sang for years, so I knew something wasn’t right. After a few minutes, I asked my dad how he was feeling and asked him to leave the stage while Steve performed a solo. My powerful dad doesn’t talk like that, and he told me that he wasn’t okay. “I think I may be having a stroke,” he remarked.

McDowell Jr. claimed that he urged the promoter to call the EMT over right away and took his father to a van to cool off.

“They took me to the hospital in Reading,” he stated. I’ll just say that everyone at the hospital was really kind and accommodating. He will require surgery in the coming weeks, the doctors informed him. Although they advise him to rest, they also stated that he can work out and perform in the coming days.

According to McDowell Jr., after his father was discharged from the hospital, he wanted to visit his favorite Italian restaurant.

“I am incredibly grateful to all of my friends and amazing family, as well as my Dad’s Band and The Twang Gang, who were present during the episode,” he stated.

He continued, “Thank you, Jesus, for saving my dad.” You’re great.

More than 30 of McDowell’s songs have reached the top 40 on the Billboard country music charts since his career began in 1977. You’re Gonna Ruin My Bad Reputation and Older Woman were two of those songs that peaked at the top of the charts. Eleven more of McDowell’s songs made it into the top 10.

He was also well-known for his song “The King Is Gone,” which became a country and crossover smash and was about the passing of Elvis Presley in 1977.
