Earlier this week, the Pittsburgh Steelers revealed that they had signed long snapper Tucker Addington. Addington joins the Steelers as Christian Kuntz’s backup long snapper, as Kuntz is unlikely to lose his position.
Addington has been in the NFL for a while and is hardly a rookie. Addington, a Sam Houston State undrafted free agent in the 2020 NFL Draft, bounced about from squad to team and hasn’t found a permanent home.
Throughout the seasons, he has raided practice squads and participated in six NFL games. Addington earned slots with the Dallas Cowboys and New England Patriots after making his USFL debut with the Houston Gamblers in 2022.
Addington has played for the Patriots and Cowboys over the years. The Miami Dolphins, Houston Texans, Jacksonville Jaguars, and Washington Commanders. After being waived on June 20, Addington, who had begun the spring with the Texans, was signed five days later by the Steelers.
Prior to the opening of training camp on July 23, the Steelers will make roster adjustments. Now that the squad has two kickers, punters, and long snappers, a contest between the two punters is anticipated. Chris Boswell and Kuntz, though, appear to be safe picks for the final roster.
