The Philadelphia Inquirer reports
how the company — which already boasts 350 Insomnia Cookies locations in the United States and outside of it — announced its plans to open up another 1,500 over the next 10 years or so.
“The whole business model is intended to open as many locations as possible,” Seth Berkowitz, who founded Insomnia Cookies whilst studying at the University of Pennsylvania, informed the publication.
“From distribution to procurement, entire pieces of the supply chain are built for this number of locations that we plan on scaling to.”
According
to Philadelphia Business Journal
, this expansion — bolstered by investments from two of its current private equity partners following Krispy Kreme’s sale of its majority stakes — will encompass everything from college campuses to shopping centers.
Insomnia Cookies is looking to support this growth by investing in its leadership team as well, the Inquirer adds.
“My passion for the brand, there’s never been hesitation around it,” Berkowitz told
QSR Magazine
. “I love watching the momentum and growth of the business. And the opportunity keeps widening.
“I can really impact the business 20 years later. We can revise strategy, innovate our product, bring new talent. It’s always a puzzle to solve, and it’s incredibly rewarding. So I’ve been finding so much fun and it’s so gratifying and honestly, it’s the only job I’ve ever had in my whole life. I started in college, so it’s something I know.”
Where exactly Insomnia Cookies plans on opening up these new locations remains unconfirmed as of the publishing of this report.
