Actress Denise Richards was granted a temporary restraining order against her husband Aaron Phypers on Wednesday after she accused him of being physically abusive.

Richards, 54, listed a numerous instances of abuse in the filing, saying that, “throughout our relationship, Aaron would frequently violently choke me, violently squeeze my head with both hands, tightly squeeze my arms, violently slap me in my face and head, aggressively slam my head into the bathroom towel rack, threaten to kill me, hold me down with his knee on my back to the point where I would have to plead with him to get off me so that he would not kill me and hack into my laptop and phone and download all of my text messages.”
She also said that Phypers, 49, “regularly threatened to ‘break my jaw’ and would cry, beg me to stay, and promise to get help — none of which ever happened.”
She accused him of giving her three concussions. and of trying to record her while she was alone in hotel rooms and at her townhouses.
“Aaron threatened that I would ‘disappear’ if I called the police,” she said in the request.
In particular, she said that on July 4, after she told him his family needed to move out of the home they had previously shared, he started screaming profanities at her and grabbed her left arm tightly.
The next day, she said he came to one of her townhomes, yelled at her, and then grabbed and dragged her to the ground.
In January 2022, she said he hit her in the eye using the heel of his palm, giving her a black eye that took over a month to heal. She provided a photo of her with the black eye in the filing.
Richards also said Phypers owns at least eight unregistered guns. “He has told me multiple times over the course of the last two years that because the guns are unregistered that if he used them, no one would be able to track them,” she said in the filing.
Phypers had filed a petition for a dissolution of the marriage on July 7, citing irreconcilable differences.
The couple were married in 2018 and do not have any children.
Richards has starred in such movies as “Wild Things,” “The World Is Not Enough,” “Love Actually,” and “Drop Dead Gorgeous.” She was also a cast member on the reality TV series “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.”
