The rainy weather may finally give way to

some warm and sunny conditions this weekend, at least briefly

. But don’t plan on swimming at these state parks.

The Pine Grove Furnace State Park announced on Wednesday that routine water testing of Laurel Lake had shown “elevated E. coli counts.”

In a post on the

park’s Facebook page

, the Cumberland County state park announced that “swimming is prohibited at Laurel Lake until further notice.”

“Fishing and boating activities are still permitted,” the post read. “The park is in the process of resampling and will reopen the swimming area when bacteria count falls into acceptable levels.”

Similarly, a post on the

Gifford Pinchot State Park Facebook page

announced on Thursday that swimming was prohibited at the York County park’s campground beach.

“Routine water testing has returned an elevated coliform count, and so swimming is prohibited in Pinchot Lake at the campground beach,” the post read.

The post went on to state that the Quaker Race Day Use Area remains open for swimming, and that “other activities such boating and fishing are permitted.”

“The park will test the water daily and reopen the campground swimming beach when bacteria counts fall into acceptable levels,” the post read.
