J.J. Watt
made a lot of money in his soon-to-be Hall of Fame career, but it wasn’t nearly as much as his brother,
T.J. Watt,
will make with the
Pittsburgh Steelers
after his latest extension.
After a post compared the career earnings of the two brothers, J.J. took a hilarious route to respond to what is growing to be a large separation between the two’s career salaries.
“I swear, if this guy even lets me begin to reach for my wallet at dinner,”
J.J. wrote on X

When it is all said and done, T.J. will nearly twice as much as J.J. did in his career, with J.J.’s career total earnings measuring up to $129.7 million over 12 years, while Watt will make $123 million over just this three-year extension alone. He signed a four-year, $112 million extension with the Steelers back in 2021, too.
T.J., 30, had 11.5 sacks a season ago and dealt with multiple injuries that cooled him off down the stretch. Before the injuries, T.J. was the odds-on favorite to win the 2024 Defensive Player of the Year Award, which would have been his second in a storied career.
For the 2025 season, T.J. Watt is listed at +1000 to win the Defensive Player of the Year Award on

Drafted in the first round of the 2017 NFL Draft, T.J. tied the single-season sack record in 2021 with 22.5 sacks. Over his Steelers career, he has accumulated 108 career sacks, surpassing the team’s previous record. Now, this contract makes it likely T.J. will retire a Steeler, something that the superstar notably wanted to do at the end of the season.
