Buffalo Bills legend Jim Kelly is asking for continued prayers for his grandson, who is
battling medical complications
after being born last week.
Kelly provided a positive update on his grandson on Wednesday after he underwent a procedure.
“Little Bean’s procedure is complete — and everything went well. THANK GOD!“
Jim Kelly posted
. ”We are overwhelmed with gratitude for God’s hand in every detail today… for highly skilled and compassionate doctors and nurses… and for every single prayer that’s been lifted on our behalf. Today was a victory! To God be all the glory!”
Jim Kelly’s daughter, Erin, and her husband, Parker, welcomed their first child into the world last week. Unfortunately, his birth came with “unexpected medical complications,”
Jim Kelly announced
in a statement on Instagram.
Kelly has continued to post updates on Instagram, with the most recent one stating that the procedure went well. Still, he is asking for continued prayers for his family and grandson.
“This is just the beginning — and we humbly ask you to PLEASE KEEP PRAYING as the healing journey begins,“ Kelly’s post continues. ”Our continued prayer is that Little Bean’s body will begin to heal and adjust to all that took place this morning… that his body will strengthen… and that, in time, he’ll be able to come off the ventilator and be able to go home. We are trusting God for strength, for restoration, and for many little miracles in the days ahead.”
Jim Kelly has not revealed his grandson’s name yet because Erin and Parker “still want to announce him to the world.”
Jim Kelly grew up in Pennsylvania, before attending the University of Miami.
He starred in the USFL for a couple of seasons, then spent 11 years in the NFL with the Buffalo Bills.
Kelly was named a Pro Bowler five times and earned multiple All-Pro honors. He led the NFL in passing touchdowns in 1991, and his No. 12 jersey is retired by the Bills.
He was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2002.
