(EDITOR’S NOTE: The boat’s launch was first reported in this story. However, bad weather caused it to be dragged back out of the ocean.)
The riverboat Pride of the Susquehanna was nearly back in the water.
The launch of the famous red and white boat was then postponed due to the weather.
The 2025 program schedule will be made available on the non-profit organization’s website shortly, according to Michael Chapaloney, executive director of the Harrisburg Area Riverboat Society. The launch will now probably happen sometime next week, Chapaloney told PennLive on Friday.
“We’re very excited to get the boat back in the water,” he stated.
According to him, the yacht was given a new coat of paint and underwent substantial repairs. It recently passed a Coast Guard examination as well.
Chapaloney remarked, “The craft looks fantastic.”
The Pride is the only genuine paddlewheel riverboat this side of the Mississippi and one of only six left in the United States, according to the non-profit organization that runs it.
The vessel provides both themed cruises and scenic cruises along the Susquehanna River. Mike Trephan founded it, and on June 11, 1988, it was dedicated.
In Harrisburg, the boat docks at 11 Championship Way on City Island.
