While traveling to a wedding in Australia’s Hunter Valley, a groom and one of his groomsmen are in critical condition after their minibus swerved off the road and tumbled down a steep embankment.

The New South Wales (NSW) Police Force said in a statement that the collision happened along Mount View Road at approximately 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, July 30. When the responding officers got there, they discovered that the car had crashed down an embankment and rolled seven times before stopping about 500 feet from the road.

The minibus carrying members of the groom’s party to the wedding had six passengers, according to authorities. After suffering severe injuries, the 56-year-old groom and another guy in his 60s were taken to John Hunter Hospital. Due to non-life-threatening injuries, the other four passengers were also sent to the hospital.

Officers from the Hunter Valley Police District have set up a crime scene, according to the NSW Police.

The local police district commander, Superintendent Steve Laksa, acknowledged that the groom was one of the injured and expressed gratitude that no one was killed.

According to Laksa, they hadn’t even reached the wedding yet. We are really lucky that the injuries were not life-threatening.

Acting Superintendent Jake Broughton-Rouse of the NSW Ambulance stated that emergency personnel spent forty-five minutes trying to pull one of the injured guys from the wreckage.

Road and weather conditions, according to authoritiesAn unsealed dirt road and light rain could have played a role in the collision. The minibus driver will be subjected to normal blood and alcohol tests, as required by law, even though there is currently no evidence that alcohol was a factor.

The inquiry is still under progress. Updates on the victims’ conditions have not yet been made public by NSW Health.
