Who is the best Eagles player of the last 25 years? Our No. 1 revealed

Our list of the best 25 Philadelphia Eagles over the previous 25 years was released this week. We are now prepared to reveal the top slot.

We released Nos. 21–25 on Monday. We released Nos. 16–20 on Tuesday. We released Nos. 11-15 on Wednesday. We also made it into the top 10 on Thursday, which included LeSean McCoy, Brian Westbrook, Donovan McNabb, Jason Peters, and Brandon Graham.

We are now concluding with the top five. There are still some legendary Eagles. Who will be the winner?

DT, 2012-23; Fletcher Cox, 5.

Throughout his career, Cox was a game-wrecker. From 2015–20, the future Hall of Famer was selected to the Pro Bowl six times in a row. In 2018, he made the first team All-Pro. With 70 sacks, he is fifth in franchise history, behind four edge rushers: Clyde Simmons, Trent Cole, Brandon Graham, and Reggie White. Cox was selected for the 2010s NFL All-Decade Team. And the Eagles’ victory in Super Bowl LII was largely due to his pressure on Tom Brady.

4. Quarterback Jalen Hurts, 2020–present

This may seem excessive to some. However, I thought Hurts should be at the top. Let’s consider this logically. The most crucial role in sports is played by Hurts. As the starter, he has advanced to the playoffs each season. He has advanced to two Super Bowls and excelled in each one. He contributed four touchdowns and 374 yards in the Super Bowl LVII defeat. And after scoring three touchdowns and 293 yards against the Chiefs in Super Bowl LIX, he was named MVP. Hurts is starting his fifth season, but we have no idea what the future of his career will bring. However, he has already solidified his status as a Philadelphia sports icon.

3. Kelce, Jason C., 2011-23

Perhaps the best center in NFL history is Kelce. Since his first season, the former sixth-round pick has started every game in which he has participated. He was selected to the first team All-Pro six times and to the Pro Bowl seven times. Two Super Bowls were played by him; he stunned the New England Patriots and lost to his brother, Travis, and the Chiefs by a slim margin. As the Eagles’ longtime leader, Kelce is a fan favorite and deserving of the top pick.

2. Dawkins, S. Brian, 1996-2008

Another Eagle deserving of first place is Dawkins. Arguably the most adored Eagle of all time, the 2018 Pro Football Hall of Fame inductee is among the NFL’s greatest defensive backs. Weapon X was selected to the All-Pro team five times and was a nine-time Pro Bowl player. In addition to ranking first in forced fumbles (32) and passes defended (132), the 2000s NFL All-Decade Team selection is tied for first place in the team’s history with 34 interceptions and fifth with 723 solo tackles. A Super Bowl victory, which was not his fault, is the only item lacking from Dawkins’ CV.

1. Lane Johnson, OT, since 2013

This shouldn’t surprise you, but it could. Johnson will be remembered as one of the greatest offensive tackles in NFL history, not only with the Eagles. His longevity and excellence are uncommon. Since Week 1 of his rookie season, Johnson has started every game in which he has participated. He was selected to the All-Pro team five times and was a six-time Pro Bowler. And he hasn’t shown any symptoms of slowing down at the age of 35.

The main factor that makes Johnson the winner? He had a key role in both of the Eagles’ Super Bowl victories, and he is a key factor in their ranking as one of the favorites to win the championship again this year.
