Grammy-nominated musician and songwriter JP Saxe recently faced a grim reality when he had to postpone his planned tour because of poor ticket sales.
On July 28, the artist announced on social media that he would have to cancel his entire tour unless he sold thousands more tickets in the next 48 hours.
In a video he posted to Instagram, he stated, “I’m really embarrassed to tell you this, but I’m going to tell you anyway.”My tour will be canceled if I don’t receive 20,000 or so tickets within the next 48 hours.
Saxe came back to inform followers that he had sold a few thousand additional tickets following his statement.
And to everyone of you that purchased one, I am incredibly appreciative,” he continued. The few thousand tickets serve as a reminder that sometimes the transparency of failure can have a greater impact than the success fad. They serve as a reminder of the beauty that can result from asking for assistance and seeing a community come together.
He went on to say that this was the nicest the internet has ever been to him. However, those few thousand tickets are insufficient to keep this tour afloat.
He then expressed regret to his supporters for having to postpone it.
He said that every ticket will be fully refunded along with a little token of appreciation from a dorky ginger Canadian. I still feel a little ashamed. In addition, I have a strong desire to ensure that this doesn’t occur again and to create the most truthful music I can. In the meanwhile, I sincerely apologize, I love you, and I’m thankful to everyone who purchased a ticket. The squad can expand, and we can just have these full rooms.
