In a rare event, a guy lost his life when his wife fell on top of him.
His wife, weighing 230 pounds, apparently lost her balance and fell out of bed, forcing the 59-year-old guy against the wall and suffocating him. The male was described as having a tiny build.
The incident took place in Portugal’s Campanha, close to Porto. Early on Monday morning, the woman’s screams awakened the neighbors, who hurried to her aid. Her weight had trapped her between the wall and the bed, making it impossible for her to get out. She was lifted off her spouse by five men.
The victim was already unconscious when paramedics and firefighters arrived. After he fell into cardiac arrest, emergency personnel attempted to resuscitate him, but regrettably, they were unsuccessful.
After investigating the case, Portuguese police determined that it was a terrible accident. Any foul play was deemed out. According to a person familiar with the investigation, it has been classified as accidental asphyxia. No criminal intent was present. What happened was caused by her stumbling when she was getting out of bed.
Grief counseling has been offered to the woman. Despite living together for a number of years, the pair was not legally married.
