Van Jefferson, a former wide receiver for the Pittsburgh Steelers, shone in the Tennessee Titans’ most recent preseason game, hauling in three passes for 102 yards and a touchdown.
Jefferson converted a pass into a 66-yard touchdown after catching it on an out route. He would have recorded the most receiving yards in a game in his NFL career with 102.
After receiving criticism for dropping a well-placed pass from Titans rookie quarterback Cam Ward a week prior, Jefferson turned things around on Friday and made a run for the Titans roster.
After not being selected for an upgrade, Jefferson, who finished the season with just 276 yards on 24 receptions and two touchdowns, was named the Steelers’ second wide receiver.
Jefferson arrived accompanied by Atlanta Falcons offensive coordinator Arthur Smith. He is now playing for the Titans and going back to his hometown of Brentwood, Tennessee.
Jefferson was a deep danger in the Los Angeles Rams offense during his greatest years, but he hasn’t been able to establish any consistency in his career since 2021. He did develop as a blocker with the Steelers the previous season, and an offense may now use that aspect of his game to its advantage.
