The 30-year-old journeyman cornerback Parry Nickerson seemed to be vying for a spot on the roster of the reigning Super Bowl winners. At MetLife Stadium, however, Nickerson might have made the choice between Howie Roseman and Nick Sirianni more difficult.
Nickerson recorded an impressive interception in the first quarter of the Eagles’ preseason matchup with the Jets. The slot corner leaped to intercept Jets rookie quarterback Brady Cook after wide receiver Malachi Corley jumped an out route.

Nickerson returned to a boisterous bench after celebrating with teammates in the end zone. As Nickerson reveled in a moment he would never soon forget, Saquon Barkley, Reed Blankenship, and others gave him hugs and helmet taps.
After bouncing around the league, Nickerson is battling for a spot with the Eagles. The former Tulane star was selected by the Jets in the sixth round of the 2018 NFL Draft and saw some action during his rookie season. He has since played for the Dolphins, Vikings, Packers, Jaguars, and Seahawks.
He was brought to Philadelphia last year by Vic Fangio, who had coached him in Miami in 2023. Nickerson spent the most of the 2024 season on the practice squad after joining the team for training camp. However, since October 2023, he has not participated in a regular-season game. It has been a long time.
Nickerson was not included in the 53-man roster that will be decided on Tuesday going into the preseason finale. Cooper DeJean and Quinyon Mitchell have a lot in common. Mac McWilliams, Adoree Jackson, Kelee Ringo, and Jakorian Bennett are also anticipated to join the squad. There may not be space for Nickerson because it’s a numbers game.
However, Nickerson’s interception can help him sign a waiver contract with another NFL team even if Philadelphia cuts him.
