After the body of her 10-month-old daughter was found in a cardboard box inside her Milwaukee apartment, the mother has been accused.
A neighbor complained of a bad odor emanating from Shyanna Brothers’ house on August 13. According to WISN and the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, Brothers, 28, informed officers that the smell came from stale food when they arrived.
According to the criminal complaint acquired by the outlets, when police entered the flat, they discovered the body of Rayne Taylor, the brother’s daughter, in a locked bedroom inside a huge cardboard box.
According to her brothers, she was the victim of domestic abuse and was compelled to conceal her daughter by an unnamed man. She pointed to the bedroom and told the cops, “He has me hiding her in there,” according to WISN and the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.
The complaint claims that Taylor’s body was in a highly decomposed state and that the cardboard box was encircled by maggots and flies.

The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel was able to get autopsy documents that showed Taylor had a frontal-parietal skull fracture that was consistent with blunt force trauma. The formal cause of death is still being looked at.
According to WISN, Brothers denied killing her daughter in a police interview, saying she had no control over how she passed away.
According to WISN, police observed that Brothers’ words were erratic and that she occasionally spoke incoherently, as though speaking to someone else.
According to a neighbor who spoke to the local source, Brothers frequently spent time outside and they never saw her with a baby. Brothers had previously complained about smells in the residence, the neighbor added.
According to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, defense lawyer Stephen Sargent expressed worries about Brothers’ mental state during her court appearance on August 17 when a doctor’s evaluation was mandated.
As of right now, no further suspects are being questioned in relation to Taylor’s passing.
PEOPLE’s request for comment on Saturday, Aug. 23, was not immediately answered by the Milwaukee County Police Department. Whether Brothers has legal counsel to speak on her behalf is unknown.
