Beyond Washington, D.C., Donald Trump intends to expand his federalized approach to crime.
Speaking to reporters in the Oval Office on Friday, the president commended the D.C. police and National Guard for their efforts during his administration’s occupation of the nation’s capital.
Trump stated, “After we accomplish this, we will move to another location and make it safe as well.” Chicago is a complete mess, and the mayor is incredibly inept. We will correct that one. After this, that will most likely be our next one.
It won’t be difficult at all. Chicago residents are yelling for us to arrive. He said, “They’re wearing red hats, just like this one,” alluding to his most recent customized item, a red baseball cap with the words “Trump Was Right About Everything.”
He went on, “Beautiful African-American women are pleading with President Trump to visit Chicago.” As you know, I performed quite well with the Black vote. They want something to occur.
Trump received 20% of the national Black vote in the 2024 election, despite the fact that he did receive more support from Black voters than he did in 2020. He received slightly more than 28% of the vote in Cook County, Illinois, which includes Chicago.
Trump stated, “I believe Chicago will be our next, and then we’re going to help with New York.”
On social media, Trump also praised the outcomes of his takeover of D.C.
Once again, Washington, D.C. is safe! On Truth Social, he wrote. The mood is rising, the crowds are returning, and our D.C. Police and National Guard are doing admirably. They are not playing games; they are out in force!
He went on, For the first time in memory, there were no killings this week, as horrible as it sounds. If Mayor Muriel Bowser continues to provide wildly erroneous crime statistics, there will be dire consequences, including a full-scale federal takeover of the city! Soon, Washington, D.C., will be a wonderful place once more!
During a press conference on Monday, August 11, Trump unveiled his plan to crack down on crime in D.C. He said he was taking over the Metropolitan Police Department and deploying the National Guard to fight crime and help the city’s homeless population.
He stated that additional military personnel could be sent in if necessary and named Attorney General Pam Bondi to lead the local police.
“We are officially announcing a public safety emergency today,” Trump stated.
Since the takeover, protests against curfews and pop-up ICE checkpoints have increased along with the number of arrests. This week, protesters at Dupont Circle were yelling “Danger!” Risk! The White House is occupied by a fascist! were surrounded by a Humvee from the National Guard.
Trump hinted last week that he will expand the crackdown to other cities and prolong the original 30-day police control in D.C.
When he announced the 2025 Kennedy Center candidates, he stated, “We’re going to need a crime bill, and it’s going to pertain initially to D.C.” We will be requesting extensions on that long-term basis and will use [D.C.] as a very good example.
According to him, that will act as an abeacon for New York, Chicago, Los Angeles, and other locations across the nation. Our entire nation will undergo a significant transformation. People will love our flag more than they have ever loved it, and it will be safe, clean, and attractive. And we will do admirably.
