quarterback Aaron Rodgers revealed earlier this month that
he is married
. However, who exactly Rodgers is married to and when exactly the marriage occurred continues to be a mystery.
Rodgers
appeared on The Pat McAfee Show
Tuesday and blasted the media coverage of his personal life, as well as those who feel entitled to information about him.
“It’s a sick society, isn’t it. It’s a sick society,“ Aaron Rodgers said. ”I lived in the public eye for 20 years, I had a public relationship. How did that work out? I had people leaking my home information and making up stories that we bought a house together. I had people calling the paparazzi. I had people posting personal life on the internet.
“Didn’t want any of that, didn’t like any of that. And now I’m with somebody who’s private, who doesn’t want to be in the public eye, didn’t sign up to be a celebrity, doesn’t want to be a part of it.”
Rodgers told the media on June 11 that he has been married for a few months, although he didn’t share an exact date.
Since then, he says some media members and fans have been obsessed with finding out information about his wife and trying to obtain photos of her.
“And because I do things in private, because I want my personal life to be private, now I’m weird and the paparazzi is stalking me on the beach trying to get a picture of her, or stalking me at a workout. What is the entitlement to information that we’re living in society these days where that’s like a norm?” Rodgers said.
He continued, stating that he is also frustrated information was posted about a house he purchased in Pittsburgh.
Rodgers said that his wife isn’t a celebrity, doesn’t have social media accounts and has no interest in being in the public eye.
He wishes people would respect his privacy and her privacy and allow details about their relationship to become available when they are ready for them to be public.
“What happened to common decency about security and a personal life that we now have to dive into your details of where you live and what you’re doing and who you’re with and who your wife is and if you even have a wife. And if you’re doing some sort of attention grabbing thing, because my wife is a private person, doesn’t have social media, hasn’t been a public person, doesn’t want to be a public person. That now somehow that’s a weird thing,” Rodgers said.
“Where are we at in society that that’s like the norm now, just because I’m not selling wedding photos to the magazines or leaking personal information or making a loving post on Instagram. And look, if you wanna do that, that’s fine. That’s your own prerogative. I don’t care. That’s just not what I wanna do. I don’t want to be a part of any of that.”
Aaron Rodgers told The Pat McAfee Show multiple times on Tuesday that when his career is over, he will disappear from the public eye and won’t be heard from again.
“I’m out. You won’t see me,” he said.
Rodgers understands that by signing up to play for the Steelers in 2025, he is going to be in the public spotlight this year. However, he would like his wife’s privacy to be respected.
He was also frustrated with a story posted about some of his
family members questioning
if Rodgers’ wedding was even real.
“I know that I’ve chosen to be in the public eye for one more season. But my private life is staying private. And any other ridiculous story that’s out there about my family that I don’t talk to, you know, they wouldn’t know any information about me. Like, leave them alone,” he said.
“And you wanna keep stalking me on the beach and getting photos of me and (my dog) Apollo, go for it. I don’t give a [expletive]. But stop making [expletive] up. And my private life is my private life and it’s going to stay that way. And I’m with somebody who wants to be private. And if and when she wants to be out, and there’s a picture, she’ll choose that. And she deserves the right to that. But the entitlement to information about my private life is so [expletive] ridiculous and embarrassing.”
