‘American Idol’ executive, husband found dead in home, suspect arrested

A longtime, award-winning “American Idol” music supervisor, and her husband were found dead in their California home on Monday, the victims of what police say appears to be a failed burglary.

According to a statement

from the Los Angeles Police Department

, officers conducted a welfare check at a home in Encino at 2:30 p.m. after getting a report that the residents had not been heard from in several days.

Once inside the home, they found the bodies of Robin Kaye, 70, and Thomas Deluca, 70, dead from multiple gunshot wounds.

A suspect, Raymond Boodarian, 22, was later identified and arrested at 3 p.m. Tuesday at his home without incident.

KABC in Los Angeles

reported that police identified Boodarian using facial recognition technology with surveillance video taken outside the home as well as other evidence found at the scene.

Police said they do not believe Boodarian has any relationship with the victims and called it an isolated incident.

Police said they believe Boodarian gained entry into the house via an unlocked door and that the couple returned home while he was still there.

“A confrontation ensued, which resulted in the suspect taking their lives,” the LAPD’s statement said. “The victims succumbed to multiple gunshot wounds, and the suspect fled from the residence on foot.”

Police say they did visit the house on July 10 after getting a report of a “possible burglary suspect at the residence” but said there were no signs of forced entry.

“We are devastated to hear of Robin and her dear husband, Tom’s, passing,” a statement from “American Idol” said. “Robin has been a cornerstone of the ‘Idol’ family since 2009 and was truly loved and respected by all who came in contact with her. Robin will remain in our hearts forever and we share our deepest sympathy with her family and friends during this difficult time.”
