Arch Manning ‘probably regrets’ phone calls with Peyton, Hall of Famer says

When Arch Manning wants to talk about managing an offense or leading a club, he can rely on one of the all-time great quarterbacks.

Hall of Famer Peyton Manning, Arch’s uncle, is delighted to assist him in any way he can as he begins his first season as Texas’ starting quarterback.

Arch likely regrets some of their phone discussions, Peyton Manning recently said Cris Collinsworth. Peyton came to the conclusion that he likely goes a bit too far with Arch after thinking back on some of their conversations.

He calls and makes contact; he is my nephew. Peyton Manning added, “I think he probably regrets it sometimes.” He called me to share his perspective on the two-minute drill that culminated in a four-and-out situation last spring.

I also left him three voice memos, each lasting nine minutes. I believe he said, “I love my uncle Peyton, but I’m not sure I want that much information,” 27 minutes later.

There is such a thing as too much information, as Peyton stated. He feels that when he speaks to his nephew, he frequently fumbles with the line.

Peyton experienced a similar circumstance to that of his younger brother, Ole Miss great Eli Manning. Those years with Eli taught Peyton what to do and what not to do, but sometimes it’s difficult to keep your thoughts to yourself.

I discovered a little bit about Eli when he arrived at Ole Miss. I was viewing the video of his games when all of a sudden, Peyton remarked, “I have four pages of notes.” These days, I leave a lot of voice memos and voicemails.

However, Eli and I were conversing, and I just wanted to assist him. I wanted to impart all of the knowledge I had acquired to him. I eventually came to the conclusion that it would be best to wait until Eli called and asked, “Hey, what do you see?”

As Arch Manning embarks on his first season as a starting quarterback at the collegiate level, it’s safe to say that expectations are extremely high.

Even though there are many seasoned quarterbacks making a comeback to college football in 2025, Manning is the 7-1 Heisman favorite.

Peyton thinks his nephew is prepared to face the attention and expectations, go out, and have a remarkable year.

He is a wonderful child. He has put in a lot of effort. He has shown a lot of patience. He gets a lot of credit from me. If they don’t play in their first or second year, the majority of highly recruited players in today’s collegiate football environment typically transfer, according to Peyton. Arch traveled to Texas because he desired to play for Coach Sarkisian there. I’m excited to watch him play this year and am really proud of him for sticking with it.

Cooper, his father, has raised him admirably. They are pretty close. All I want to do is be there to support and assist him. Two years ago, he came out to Denver. Together, we watched a movie. Together, we threw. But he wanted to come to me for that reason. That is the general nature of our relationship.
