Just days before Beyoncé’s
Cowboy Carter
tour stop in Atlanta, her choreographer and a dancer became victims of a car break-in that may have compromised sensitive tour materials — including
unreleased music
and upcoming
set lists
.
According to a police report obtained by
PEOPLE
, choreographer
Christopher Grant
and dancer
Diandre Blue
called 911 on
Tuesday, July 8
, after discovering that their
Jeep Wagoneer
had been broken into while parked in a garage at the
Ayla apartment complex
, not far from Mercedes-Benz Stadium.
The two said they had parked the SUV around
8:09 p.m.
, and when Grant returned just over an hour later, he found the trunk window smashed and
two suitcases missing
.
Inside one of the stolen bags, Grant told police, was a
flash drive containing watermarked music
,
unreleased tracks
,
concert footage plans
, and
detailed set lists
for Beyoncé’s Atlanta performance and future tour stops.
“Mr. Grant advised he was also carrying some personal sensitive information for the musician Beyoncé,” the police report states.
Alongside the hard drives, several personal items were also taken, including
laptops
,
designer clothing
,
sunglasses
, and
AirPods Max headphones
.
Investigation Underway
Police quickly began tracking one of the stolen laptops and headphones, and officers were dispatched to a location where the
AirPods were pinging
. One officer noted that a suspicious silver vehicle appeared to be moving in tandem with the device’s location data.
As of
Monday, July 14
, the
Atlanta Police Department
confirmed that detectives from the
Larceny from Auto Unit
had
secured an arrest warrant
for a suspect. However, the individual’s identity has not yet been released, and they remain at large.
“This is still an active investigation,” the APD said in a statement to
PEOPLE
. “Please keep in mind that the information released is preliminary in nature and could change as the investigation progresses or new information comes to light.”
Beyoncé’s Tour Continues
Beyoncé is currently performing multiple sold-out shows at
Atlanta’s Mercedes-Benz Stadium
as part of her
Cowboy Carter
world tour. Her final performance in the city is scheduled for
Monday
, with the tour set to wrap up on
Saturday, July 26
, in
Las Vegas
.
In light of the theft, APD also issued a public reminder as part of its
Clean Car Campaign
, urging residents and visitors to remove valuables from their vehicles.
“It only takes seconds for a thief to spot valuables and break in,” the department said. “Take your bags, phone, and anything important with you every time you leave your car. Don’t give criminals an easy win.”
