Pittsburgh –Calvin Austin III, a wide receiver for the Pittsburgh Steelers, has been out for more than two weeks due to a persistent stomach ailment sustained during Friday Night Lights practice.
Austin is day-to-day, according to head coach Mike Tomlin. In an interview with reporters on Monday, Austin acknowledged that the injury was extremely irritating and that it is a persistent problem that he wants to get over quickly.
On Monday, Austin was spotted training off to the side, which is encouraging because it could mean he will be back soon. However, Austin stated that when he returns to full fitness, it will be up to the trainers and coaching team.
Every time Coach T pulls the trigger, he speaks to Gabe [Amponsah], the head athletic trainer, and everyone else. Austin responded, “I’ll be back out there.”
Additionally, Austin did not promise that he would play against the New York Jets in Week 1. Austin is currently unsure of the specifics of the Steelers’ plan to reintegrate him into the team, but he stated that he will adhere to whatever schedule is set for him.
I’m exactly right. Austin remarked, “I think I’m on the right timeline of things.” I will abide by whatever Coach T and the medical staff suggest.
Austin’s lost time consists of all the repetitions he isn’t getting with the starting offense, which includes Aaron Rodgers, the new quarterback. Austin and the four-time MVP have just played together for one week of training camp, so that chemistry hasn’t been developed yet.
“It’s really annoying,” Austin remarked. You know, new team, new year, and (missed) practice. It’s never enjoyable to stay indoors. merely attempting to remain involved and focused.
Without Austin, the Steelers have had an opportunity to assess their wide receiver room as Roman Wilson, Scotty Miller, and others have seen more action in his place.
