CNN’s

The Situation Room

returned from commercial with a breaking news update: the Justice Department is planning to question Ghislaine Maxwell, who is currently serving a 20-year prison sentence for her role in Jeffrey Epstein’s sex trafficking operation.

Host Wolf Blitzer reported the development and spoke with Rep. Carlos Gimenez (R-Fla.) for reaction.

“Anything that brings out the truth is fine with me,” Gimenez said. “The American people have the right to know the truth, whatever it may be. But frankly, I don’t expect much from the Epstein files.”

Gimenez

suggested

that if the files contained damaging information about former President Donald Trump, the Biden administration likely would have made that public already. “If there was something that would compromise President Trump, I think they would’ve released it a long time ago,” he said. “So I’m not expecting much.”

Still, he said he supports full transparency. “Some people want to see everything. And the truth is never a bad thing. Just get it out there and let’s move on.”

Gimenez also weighed in on how he thinks most Americans feel about the case. “The country’s largely moved past Epstein,” he said. “This keeps coming up again and again. Just release the documents and let’s put this behind us.”

He added that the case has already been addressed in court and argued the focus should shift to more immediate concerns. “He was found guilty. What he did was horrible. But the American people are worried about real-life issues—how much they’re paying at the pump, how much they can keep in their pockets,” Gimenez said.

The

update

comes amid renewed scrutiny of the Epstein case, with the Justice Department facing pressure to release more information. Maxwell, once Epstein’s close associate, could now be a key figure in ongoing investigations.
