Coroner IDs 23-year-old killed in central Pa. shooting

The name of the 23-year-old man slain in a shooting Friday night was made public by the York County coroner on Monday.

According to the York County coroner’s office, Osha Copeland was shot at approximately 8:20 p.m. at the first block of South Highland Avenue in West York Borough and died from wounds to his left hand, wrist, and chest.

The coroner declared the death to be a homicide.

When West York Borough police got on the scene, they reported finding Copeland and another victim of gunshot wounds.

The coroner subsequently declared Copeland deceased at Wellspan York Hospital.

Before they were shot, Copeland and the other individual were meeting with an unspecified number of people in the street next to the Carriage Works Apartments, according to the York Dispatch.

It was unknown what condition the other shooter was in.

The murder is being looked into by West York Borough police.
