In June, while performing at a music event in Pennsylvania, Ronnie McDowell suffered a stroke onstage, giving the country music industry a serious worry.
Prior to undergoing a recent treatment to remove plaque from an artery in his neck, the 75-year-old was already back to his previous level of performance. Although he has always been a strong guy, he recently shared what saved his life in an interview with Taste of Country.Because of it, McDowell claimed, physicians in Pennsylvania also permitted him to leave the hospital and return home to schedule surgery.
The doctor informed Taste of Country, “I’m going to let you go home, and let me tell you why.”
He said, “I’ve been doing this for thirty-something years.” You have the strongest heart I have ever heard, based on what I heard.
“That’s what saved you,” McDowell says the doctor told him.
McDowell claimed the doctor informed him that he was over 80 percent obstructed because he was 70. According to him, the plaque was scraped off by your heart’s intense pounding action.
McDowell informed the newspaper that while he has always tried to eat healthily and maintain a healthy lifestyle, not all of his bandmates shared this sentiment.
“Oh, Ronnie’s on a diet, we’re all going to starve,” they would say. And they’re all dead, you guessed it. They have vanished. due to lifestyle. Smoking, overeating, excessive drinking, drug use, marijuana use, and other abnormal behaviors. My younger brother was one of them.
Prior to his stroke, McDowell told Taste of Country, he had a difficult few days during which he was unable to form coherent sentences.
What the devil is wrong with my brain, I thought. “It’s not connecting,” he stated.
Nevertheless, he expressed his desire to perform at Oley’s Summer Solstice Music Festival. However, he said that he began slurring and losing his words during the performance. Ronnie McDowell Jr., his son, interrupted the show to inquire about his well-being.
McDowell said to Taste of Country, “No, I think I’m having a stroke.”
The singer was taken to the hospital as a result, and since then, she has recovered remarkably.
