The get-ready-with-me video by Kimberly Feliz started off like any other. The 29-year-old social media star was talking about her favorite cosmetic products while retouching her makeup in the front seat of her automobile. She didn’t intend for the loose-fitting, one-shoulder dress she wore for the video to steal the show until it started to receive a lot of body-shaming remarks. Her comment area abruptly devolved into a hate speech.
Feliz tells people about the intensely offensive reactions to the outfit and her look, which evoked a wide range of emotions. Out of all her emotions, she was astonished, horrified, and perplexed that a dress that made her feel strong and unabashedly herself could cause such a backlash. I couldn’t speak.
Kimberly felt obliged to reply to the offensive and disgusting remarks, particularly after someone believed she had survived breast cancer based just on the dress’s fit. Kimberly claims that her post was intended to deprive unfavorable remarks of power rather than to punch back.
Responding to Body-Shaming
I wanted to draw attention to the idea that we shouldn’t destroy individuals over trivial matters. She says, “I want to spread positivity and demonstrate that confidence comes in all shapes and sizes.” I simply wanted to address it; I had no malicious intent or defense.
It’s hilarious since this isn’t the first time one of my videos has gone viral and gotten odd feedback.I don’t typically reply with a video, but when I believe it’s necessary, I respectfully defend myself in the comments.
According to Kimberly, her appreciation of the vibrant, now-viral garment reflects her strong, maximalist, and daring sense of style. I’m here to make a statement. She claims that she doesn’t dress for other people; instead, she wears what makes her feel comfortable and seductive. Since I am aware that I customize every outfit, I don’t try to live up to other people’s expectations.
It was difficult to develop this self-confidence. Kimberly remembers being tormented as a little girl.
Wearing vibrant colors, designs, flowers, and what some might consider ugly things makes me happy because I recall a period when I felt invisible and hid behind dark, slimming clothing, she says. Her confidence wasn’t established overnight. As I’ve gotten older, I’ve gained the self-assurance to embrace my physique, accept myself, and get over my insecurities.
Kimberly urges everyone to have the same perspective by letting her self-love shine so brightly that she doesn’t bother about upsetting other people.
She asserts that you don’t need to wait for a goal, alter your appearance, or conform to someone else’s ideal of beauty in order to acquire self-love.
