In order to help everyone impacted by the tour bus disaster, Governor Kathy Hochul said her administration is working with officials.
On August 22, a tour bus collided on the New York State Thruway, killing five persons, according to the Associated Press. 54 people were on the bus when it rolled over on the road Friday on its way back to New York City from Niagara Falls.
All lanes of I-90 in Pembroke were closed as a result of the bus crash, according to the New York State Police.
At a news conference on Friday night, state police Maj. Andre Ray explained that the bus veered onto the right shoulder and flipped over just before 12:30 p.m. on the eastbound side of Interstate 90, approximately 40 kilometers east of Buffalo, after the driver reportedly became distracted, lost control, and overcorrected. He stated that the probe is still ongoing and did not elaborate on the cause of the diversion.
On X, Governor Hochul announced that she had learned of the terrible tour bus disaster.
I-90 east and west is closed between exit 48A (Pembroke) and exit 49 (Depew) due to a significant crash, according to an update released by the New York State Thruway Authority. They advised drivers to stay away from the area and look for other routes.
Governor Hochul also stated that in order to organize rescue efforts and assist everyone impacted, her team is collaborating closely with officials.
Additionally, the New York State Police provided the public with an update on X, stating: I-90, Pembroke: All lanes are restricted because of a bus crash. Anticipate significant delays and detours.

Images of the collision, which showed a bus that seemed to have veered off the road, started making the rounds on social media. A lengthy line of cars was delayed, and the scene was described as a mass casualty incident in one post.
