Jeffrey Louis Starr, a former child actor best known for his role as Mike Engelberg in the Bad News Bears sequels, passed away. He was sixty-one.
According to TMZ, Starr passed away in a hospital in Carbondale, Illinois, in late July after a protracted illness.
According to a Facebook post by Kevin L. Starr, Starr’s brother and best friend, the world became a little darker yesterday.
“Jeff never met a stranger and helped so many people over the years. He lived an amazing life and shared his light with countless people,” Kevin Star commented. Depression is one of the leading causes of death worldwide, and Jeff has been ill for a number of years. Despite the numerous losses our family has endured in the past, we must persevere.
He said, “Please remember my mother, Janet Sue Starr, his incredibly loving and caring wife, Linda, and his sons, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and extended family in your prayers.” Little Brother, you have my undying love, and I will see you on the other side.
In the two Bad News Bears follow-ups, The Bad News Bears Go To Japan (1978) and The Bad News Bears In Breaking Training (1977), Starr portrayed Engelberg.
