After suffering a head injury in a work-related event, an amusement park employee in the United Kingdom passed away.
Around 2:15 p.m. local time on Saturday, August 23, the man had severe head injuries while working at the Spanish City Summer Funfair in Whitley Bay, according to the BBC and The Guardian.
The individual was only identified by Northumbria Police as being in his 20s, and they verified that his nearest of kin had been informed.
When emergency personnel arrived, they discovered that a man in his 20s had sustained severe head injuries. Police told The Guardian that the man was tragically pronounced dead a short while later, despite the best efforts of the medical personnel who responded to the site.
The injury’s circumstances have not been made public.
A medical helicopter touched down on the grass next to the fairground, according to the Daily Mail. A quick response paramedic, a clinical team leader, an emergency ambulance crew, and an air ambulance were all sent out, the local ambulance service informed the Mirror. At the site, an off-duty medic also provided assistance.
The accident happened on a ride, according to both publications.
According to authorities, his next of kin have been notified and are receiving assistance from specialized personnel.
The Health and Safety Executive, which is in charge of workplace safety in the United Kingdom, is also helping investigators figure out how the incident happened, according to authorities.
Anyone with information regarding the incident was urged by investigators to get in touch with Northumbria Police using their website or mobile app.
“At this very trying time, our thoughts are with the man’s family,” the statement read.

The Spanish City Summer Funfair, which was held at Whitley Bay’s Spanish City Plaza, said on social media that it will be closed until further notice in the wake of the tragedy.
The fair, which was supposed to continue until Monday, August 25, has roller coasters, family-friendly attractions, games, food, and more, according to its Facebook page.
