Goodyear Blimp flies over central Pennsylvania: Where it’s heading next

On Wednesday afternoon, the renowned Goodyear Blimp was seen returning to its hangar over Dauphin County.

Images captured from Harrisburg and Lower Swatara Township depict the 246-foot Wingfoot One blimp cruising across central Pennsylvania, very close to the Capitol complex.

Right now, Goodyear has four blimps in service. Wingfoot One, Wingfoot Two, and Wingfoot Three are all headquartered in the United States.According to Goodyear, the fourth is in Europe, close to Essen, Germany.at the US, the hangars that hold such blimps are situated at Akron, Ohio; close to Fort Lauderdale, Florida; and close to Los Angeles.

Standing 58 feet tall and capable of reaching speeds of up to 73 miles per hour, Wingfoot One is powered by three four-cylinder, 200-horsepower motors and can store enough helium for three Olympic-sized swimming pools.

According to a Goodyear spokesman, Wingfoot One was returning to its hangar in Ohio after performing a number of flyovers and passenger rides to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the company’s first flight.

According to the company’s website, the Goodyear blimp will make its next appearance at Milwaukee’s Summerfest, one of the biggest music festivals in the nation.
