Zverev, who has a slim 6-5 advantage in their 11 previous matches, is a familiar opponent for Alcaraz as he competes for a spot against top-ranked Jannik Sinner in a Wimbledon finals rematch. Zverev defeated him in straight sets (7-6, 6-4) to win the Nitto ATP Finals, where they previously faced off. Alcaraz defeated No. 9 Andrey Rubiev (6-3, 4-6, 7-5) in the quarterfinals, giving him a chance to exact revenge for that defeat.
