Ice Cube, Big3 won’t make same offer to Angel Reese as Caitlin Clark. Here’s why

Published On:

After her record-breaking college career at Iowa, former NCAA Player of the Year Caitlin Clark famously got a $5 million offer from Ice Cube to join the Big 3.

Instead of playing in the all-male Big3 league, Clark turned down the offer and instead to play for the Indiana Fever in the WNBA.

Angel Reese, a former LSU All-American, has a sizable fan base and established numerous records during his time in college. Nevertheless, Reese has yet to receive an offer from the Big Three, and it doesn’t seem like one will be forthcoming.

In a recent interview with TMZ, Big3 CEO Ice Cubere discussed why he won’t give Angel Reese the same $5 million offer that he made to Caitlin Clark.

“Yes, Reese is a fantastic player,” Ice Cube remarked. As our sponsors informed us, Caitlin Clark’s fame was used only to unleash millions of dollars for the league. Regarding Angel Reese, they didn’t tell us the same thing. I’m not sure if we could extend the same invitation.

Then, Ice Cube was asked if Reese could receive a different offer. It doesn’t seem like one will be arriving.

Since it wouldn’t affect the league in the same way, I don’t think we could make that similar offer. Everything is business. “It’s not personal,” he stated.

Both Clark and Reese had outstanding collegiate careers before joining the WNBA in 2024.

Before being drafted No. 1 overall by the Indiana Fever, Clark was voted the National Player of the Year in 2023 and 2024 and was recognized an All-American for each of his four seasons at Iowa.

Before being selected by the Chicago Sky in the 2024 NBA Draft, Reese led LSU to the national championship in 2023. During their first two seasons in the WNBA, Reese and Clark were both named all-stars.

Over the last two years, the WNBA has seen record-breaking viewership, and Clark has been largely responsible for the surge in attendance. Although Reese also has a sizable fan base, it is not as large as Clark’s.

Ice Cube made her a hefty contract last year because he knew how many viewers Clark could bring to the Big3.

While Caitlin Clark competes for the championship, we wanted the offer to be confidential. However, I won’t dispute the information that is currently public: Caitlin Clark received a historic offer from BIG3. Why wouldn’t we? Ice Cube wrote on Twitter in 2024 that Caitlin is a generational athlete who has the potential to succeed greatly in the BIG3.

When we appointed Nancy Lieberman as the first female coach of a men’s professional team and she won the championship in her first year, the doubters snickered. Then, in year two, Lisa Leslie took home the trophy. Caitlin Clark has the opportunity to create history and further dismantle obstacles for female athletes with our offer.
