Late-Night Hosts Slam Trump’s Epstein Deflection: “Whatever’s in Those Files Must Be Really Bad”

This week, late-night comedians were able to make fun of Donald Trump’s increasingly frantic attempts to deflect attention from his connections to Jeffrey Epstein, particularly after it was reported that he was told in May that his name was included in the Epstein files.

When asked about Epstein, Seth Meyerskicked off his Closer Look segment by airing a video of Trump telling Republicans to concentrate on Barack Obama stealing the 2016 election.

Meyers compared it to witnessing a magic show, but with a terrible magician and a clear trick. In reference to her repeated recitation of a conspiracy theory that Obama planned the Russia investigation in order to undermine Trump, he continued, “Now he’s got his intelligence director Tulsi Gabbard fully on board.”

The investigation was described by Gabbard as a multi-year plot against the American people. Meyers didn’t believe it. He quipped that whatever was in those Epstein files must be pretty awful. The Trump Files featuring Jeffrey Epstein will have to be the new moniker for them.

“At this point, we’re one Epstein headline away from Trump announcing UFOs are real just to change the subject,” Meyers added, mocking the ridiculousness.

Meyers also brought out the irony: He’s in the files, of course! For fifteen years, he was close to Epstein. At one point, Epstein referred to him as his best friend. The actual kicker? For years, Republicans exaggerated these files in the hopes that they would harm Democrats. They now desire their burial.

He chuckled as he played an old video of Dan Bongino requesting the release of the Epstein files, saying, “Now they’re hiding it.” These individuals will eventually produce conspiracy podcasts about themselves.I buried the Epstein files, but why? Who reached me?

On The Late Show, Stephen Colbert offered his own analysis of the Wall Street Journal article claiming that Trump received a warning months prior about his inclusion in the Epstein files. He deadpanned, which astonished me. Next you’ll tell me about the bear on the cover of Modern Woodspooper or the Pope in the Catholic archives.

Colbert played a clip from Epstein’s 2010 deposition in which he repeatedly used the Fifth Amendment when asked if he had ever interacted with Trump in front of minors. Colbert pointed out that he cited the Fifth, Sixth, and Fourteenth Amendments. That isn’t a defense in court. In legalese, that is a panic attack.

“You’re in serious trouble when a pedophile refuses to disclose whether he spent time with you around children and invokes every known amendment,” he continued.

Colbert also brought attention to a remark made by Epstein’s brother, which refuted Trump’s assertion that he severed the association. Mark Epstein claims that Jeffrey severed relations with Trump because he discovered he was dishonest.

According to Colbert, that is next-level. There are major problems when Jeffrey Epstein believes you are too corrupt to be around.

The Daily Show’sJosh Johnson added his thoughts as well: Epstein passed away in 2019, but not because Tupac had a lot of great songs released. “I’ll take that as a yes,” Johnson remarked in response to Epstein’s ambiguous legal evasion during his deposition.

Johnson said, “Even her corneas like, release the Epstein files or I’m out!” when Pam Bondi, who allegedly briefed Trump on the Epstein papers, abruptly left a CPAC session due to a broken cornea.

All things considered, the late-night message is that Trump’s deflection is failing and that the distractions just heighten interest in the contents of the files.
