Kyuss fans have long waited for a reunion of the rock group from the 1990s.
Long considered one of the forerunners of the stoner rock genre, the relatively unknown band broke up in 1995. Josh Homme, the band’s guitarist and the main singer of Queens of the Stone Age, has had much more success since then.
Homme has previously denied rumors that he might reunite with his former Kyuss bandmates Nick Oliveri, John Garcia, and Brant Bjork. However, in a recent interview with Nathan Lawver, the founder of Kyuss World, on June 20,
I am aware that I have given it a lot of thought. In fact, I’ve discussed it with those that assist me on a few occasions,” Homme stated.
According to him, Kyuss’ punctuation was flawless, and the small unit concluded as it should have. However, it always gave me a weird sense because it’s like you want to make things right. Additionally, I don’t think it’s good. There’s no need to cling to anything bad. I have nothing bad to say about anyone. That things doesn’t matter. Therefore, the answer is yes.
In 2011, Garcia, Bjork, and Oliveri got back together to tour under the name Kyuss Lives! However, Louder claims that after learning that Garcia and Bjork had reportedly attempted to trademark the Kyuss name, Homme and former Kyuss bassist Scott Reeder filed a lawsuit against them in 2012 for trademark infringement and consumer fraud.
Alive in the Catacombs, a movie and album that Queens of the Stone Age recently released, was shot in Paris’ catacombs. Later this fall, the group intends to visit a few theaters that have been carefully chosen.
