An armed invader killed the mother of a promising country music artist inside her Virginia home. According to investigators, her husband then shot and killed the assailant.
The Rockingham County Sheriff’s Office reports that Holly Hatcher, 62, was killed on Sunday, August 3, during a violent home invasion in Harrisonburg.
Holly’s husband, Michael Hatcher, 65, shot and killed the suspect, Kevin Moses Walker, 41, in the driveway.
The sheriff described the episode as exceedingly odd and claimed that it appeared to be entirely arbitrary. Along with Michael Hatcher and Spencer Hatcher, a country music musician and Holly’s son, he made the declaration.
Spencer announced on Instagram that he will be canceling three forthcoming gigs due to the family’s devastating loss. During this trying period, he urged people to respect the family’s privacy.
A 911 call was answered by police shortly before midnight on August 3. The attacker was discovered dead in the driveway, and Michael was outside with injuries when they arrived. Holly was discovered dead from stab wounds inside the residence.
Walker attacked Holly after entering the house with a big knife, according to the authorities, and then got into a struggle with Michael. Outside, the altercation continued, and Michael pulled a revolver from his car and fired one shot at Walker.
Walker had purchased a knife and was sleeping at a Walmart prior to the incident. At the Endless Caverns campsite, where he was staying, he also broke into a store. Nothing was taken, but the store was damaged.
When Michael dialed 911, the police were still searching for Walker. The inquiry is still under progress.
According to the sheriff, Holly taught his oldest son and he had known the Hatcher family for many years. He commended her for having a favorable influence on her students.
The attack that killed Holly has left the Hatcher family still reeling.
“There will be questions that won’t be answered,” Michael stated in a video statement. We have experienced pain and tears, but we have also discovered a deeper love than we ever imagined with you.
