A couple from Monroe County is being charged with several counts of animal cruelty after detectives raided their home and discovered terrible living circumstances, according to the police chief.
Two residents in Tobyhanna’s 9000 block of Idlewild Drive, Christopher Singh, 34, and Diajanira Singh, 31, are accused of felony aggravated animal abuse, misdemeanor animal cruelty, and misdemeanor animal neglect.
Christopher Wagner, the Pocono Mountain Regional Police Chief, told lehighvalleylive.com The Singhs have not yet been arrested on the charges as of Monday afternoon. According to the chief, charges may vary once law enforcement receives test results.
According to Wagner, on Friday, investigators got a tip regarding animal mistreatment. Investigators entered the couple’s Tobyhanna Township home shortly after 6:30 p.m. on Friday after obtaining a search warrant.
According to the chief, law enforcement discovered appalling dwelling conditions. According to Wagner, two starving canines required emergency care at a veterinary hospital.
According to police, a dead puppy was also discovered. According to Wagner, the animal has now been transported to a medical facility for examination.
