Pa. native, Penn State 5-star commit has jaw-dropping performance in season opener: ‘This is insane’

In the 2027 class, Kemon Spell, a five-star prospect from McKeesport High School near Pittsburgh, is ranked as the top running back in the nation and the top player in Pennsylvania.

In his Tigers season opener against Delaware Valley on Saturday, the longtime Penn State recruit wasted no time in demonstrating why.

Spell scored after taking the first kickoff 98 yards. He then carried for more than fifty yards and a touchdown on his opening carry of the game. His second carry? A superb 80-yard pass for another touchdown.

McKeesport defeated them 51–24 with three touches and three goals.

Remember that Spell is only a junior.

On August 2, 2024, the 5-11, 205-pound back committed to Penn State, becoming the first member of the Nittany Lions’ 2027 recruiting class. However, other prestigious programs are vying for Spell’s services, so Penn State will need to work hard to win his retention.

In addition to the fall visits to Michigan and the Irish, Spell has recently gotten offers from schools like Ohio State and Notre Dame.
