Pa.’s immigrant detentions reach highs not seen in 16 years

According to newly published government data, the number of people arrested and detained in detention facilities in New Jersey and Pennsylvania for deportation proceedings has increased to levels not seen since the early years of the Obama administration.

Since the end of April, when only 65 newly arrested people were being held for deportation hearings, the number of people in detention in New Jersey has increased by 451%.
