After her young daughter was discovered dead in her car, a woman from Delaware County was taken into custody in Maine.
Maine State Police reported that Havertown resident Kelly Brown, 40, was arrested on August 10 and charged with manslaughter.
According to the police, a three-year-old child was discovered deceased inside a car when the Penobscot County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report from a Milford business on the evening of August 9.
Brown, who was also the child’s mother, owned the car. Police say she was apprehended after being discovered close by.
Earlier, family members had called the police to try to find Brown and her child and inquire about their well. The public has not been given the girl’s name.
To ascertain the cause and manner of death, an autopsy will be conducted by the Augusta Office of Chief Medical Examiner.
In anticipation of a preliminary hearing, Brown is being detained at the Penobscot County Jail.
According to the Philadelphia Inquirer, Brown has been residing in her Havertown house for more than ten years. What she was doing in Maine is unclear.
The inquiry was aided by the Major Crimes Unit North and Maine State Police personnel.
