Perry County residents spared school tax increase

On June 17, the Susquenita School Board approved its $39,675,656 general fund budget for 2025–2026. The proposal included a tax rate of 25.6429 mills for Dauphin County and 13.2572 mills for Perry County.

A 6-2 vote approved the budget, which includes a 4.4 percent tax hike in Dauphin County and no tax increase in Perry County. According to officials, the increase would bring in around $75,000.

After discussing several tax possibilities, the board members approved the plan. Administrators warned that this would result in a revenue loss of several hundred thousand dollars, but some indicated interest in reexamining a previously proposed plan that would have included no increases in both counties.
