On Friday, the Pittsburgh Steelers made 11 cuts, including the release of cornerback Kam Alexander. With some cornerback injuries getting worse, Pittsburgh signed Alexander earlier this week.
He participated in but had a difficult game against the Carolina Panthers in the team’s last preseason game. If the Steelers so desired, they could still add him to the practice squad.
Alexander, who was cut by the Steelers this week after being released by the Seattle Seahawks last week, will be hoping to join a practice squad as a rookie.
In the Seahawks’ opening preseason game, he played six snaps and gave up a massive 41-yard reception before the Seahawks cut him.
Only in July did Alexander, an undrafted free agent from Oregon in the 2025 NFL Draft, sign with the Seahawks. Although he participated in several teams’ rookie minicamps, he did initially receive a contract.
Alexander transferred up to Oregon after beginning his collegiate football career at UTSA. While with the Ducks, he participated in 12 games, recording one interception and four passes defensed.
He earned a spot on the first team of the AAC while playing for the Roadrunners at UTSA with 15 passes defensed and two interceptions.
Alexander, who is 5-foot-11 and weighs 183 pounds, had a 40-yard sprint time of 4.48 when he left Oregon. Alexander also displayed some outstanding explosiveness, as evidenced by his 41.5-inch vertical jump and accompanying 11-foot-1-inch broad jump.
