Pittsburgh –According to head coach Mike Tomlin, Pittsburgh Steelers offensive tackle Gareth Warren suffered a head injury after diving for a turnover in the fourth quarter of the team’s second preseason game.
Following an interception in the fourth quarter, the defender mishandled the football, and Warren tried to dive on it, crashing squarely on his head. After lying on the ground for a while, he rose and went to be examined in the blue medical tent.
Warren weighs 328 pounds and has a 1.81 10-yard split and a 5.22 40-yard dash. With 33 5/8-inch arms, Warren is long enough to remain at offensive tackle if that is the position the Steelers want him to play in the offseason.
Next season, the Steelers are -120 to win more than 8.5 games in the regular season, according to OnBetMGM. Our comprehensive review of BetMGM Sportsbook offers instructions on how to use their website. Check out our comprehensive expert analysis for all of the top Steelers futures wagers.
Although the Steelers have occasionally switched him between the tackle and guard positions, he has largely remained at tackle during the preseason.
After his agent called to express interest in signing him, the Lindenwood product made his way to Pittsburgh. In an interview with Steelers Afternoon Drive, Warren describes how it all started.
After the draft, I normally get signed, but my agency told me that other teams were interested in me, so I received an invitation from the Steelers, Warren said. I wanted to accept it and try my hardest. I thought, “Just play your game, learn fast, and it’s going to be mentally and physically exhausting, but this is what you worked for and dreamed for,” as I started the week.
Following a rookie minicamp tryout, Warren signed with the Steelers and is currently attempting to get on the 53-man roster or practice squad.
