Pittsburgh Steelers part ways with intriguing versatile weapon

The Pittsburgh Steelers announced that tight end Kevin Foelsch had been re-signed after tight end DJ Thomas-Jones was dismissed or injured.

After missing a week due to a leg injury, Thomas-Jones made a comeback to start last week, but he missed the preseason game and the next two practices. He will now return to injured reserve if he clears waivers.

Thomas-Jones has a reputation for acting rudely while playing football. Thus, his teammates from South Alabama made a trophy for him that said, “First-team all-violence,” a nickname that Thomas-Jones has since adopted.

Thomas-Jones stated, “I didn’t make the first team in the conference.” Although they gave me honorable mention, I thought that no one played with the same ferocity and violence as myself. I received a plaque from them.

The Steelers see Thomas-Jones as a versatile player, according to his conversations with offensive coordinator Arthur Smith. He should line up as an H-Back, wing, tight end, and fullback, of course. But injuries kept him from pushing for a spot on the roster.
