Pittsburgh Steelers part ways with massive nose tackle

Published On:

In a series of announcements on Monday, the Pittsburgh Steelers revealed that nose tackle Breiden Fehoko would be cut.

Fehoko, who was signed earlier in August after veteran Dean Lowry was sidelined for the season, is now once again a free agent, and Pittsburgh needed to find some space to compensate for injuries to other positions.

After sustaining a shoulder injury during training camp, Fehoko rejoined the team halfway through the previous season and was a member of their practice squad.

This offseason, Fehoko shed 37 pounds in an attempt to increase her explosiveness. The Steelers will need to make difficult choices, though, as they are still very deep at defensive tackle. Fehoko had a tough battle ahead of her.

Fehoko, 28, signed with the Los Angeles Chargers after going undrafted out of LSU in the 2020 NFL Draft. He remained there from 2020 to 2022, but soon after, they gave him permission to depart, and he joined the Steelers later that summer.

The Steelers moneyline for their Week 1 game against the Jets is -152 over on FanDuel. Our in-depth analysis of FanDuel Sportsbook offers a detailed how-to for using their website. See our expert thoughts for all of the top Steelers Week 1 odds.

Fehoko was promoted for two games in 2023 even though he did not make the Steelers’ active roster. In the 2024 season, he was not promoted for a game.

Fehoko is a run-plugger in the middle of the defense who has recorded 36 total tackles during his career.
