Podcaster and California governor Gavin Newsom caused a stir on Wednesday when he vowed to punch Republicans and President Donald Trump in the mouth during a furious tirade on The Siren Podcast.
The liberal hosts of the show cheered when Newsom made the comparison between Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin, accusing him of sabotaging democracy through intimidation and election meddling.
This man isn’t playing around. Putin, offering Trump guidance. According to Newsom, Trump accepted it, claiming that Republicans had given up their values to the past president. Not even the Republican Party is a reflection of itself. This is extreme election tampering that is hurting and damaging this democracy. We’re using fire to fight fire. These sons of bitches will get a punch to the mouth from me.
JoJoFromJerz, one of the hosts, agreed right away: Oh, I agree with it.
The scathing remark was reminiscent of previous statements made by President Joe Biden, who once made light of the idea of physically approaching Trump before subsequently apologizing.
In addition, Newsom charged that President Trump was using Putin’s strategy and militarizing American cities by using the National Guard and, in the case of Los Angeles, the Marines to quell violent crime and rioting.
The California governor’s strategy of portraying himself as a confrontational individual prepared to engage in political squabbles seems to indicate that he sees a future in Democratic politics.
Recent political violence serves as the backdrop for the discourse. While Republicans have been the target of lethal attacks by left-wing extremists, most notably the 2017 congressional baseball practice shooting, President Trump has already escaped at least two murder attempts.
